The NAW Masterclass is a close textual reading in which one writer receives detailed editorial feedback (and a written report to take away). The observing writers learn from the points made in the edit, as in a Conservatoire Masterclass for musicians, because all writers confront similar challenges. The NAW focus on specific texts stops Academy discussions about writing from ever becoming vague or generalised.
To demonstrate how the Masterclass works, we'll post up a new mini Masterclass video each week. The full texts were previously Masterclassed in London, Birmingham and Bristoi, and the accompanying text is available as a download - those attending a Masterclass usually read the text in advance.
