First Page Masterclass Episode 6

'The insights are precise, intelligent, and unarguable.' Leo Benedictus, The Write Stuff, Prospect magazine, December 2010.

The first page of Extract #9 from Life in Sunny Govan, a novel-in-progress by Anne Sofie Bækdal Bräuner can be read and downloaded here.

All the Academy's courses are based around the NAW Masterclass, a close textual reading in which one writer receives detailed editorial feedback and a written report to take away. The observing writers learn from the points made in the edit, as in a Conservatoire Masterclass for musicians, because all writers confront similar challenges. Every writer will have a text of up to 3000 words Masterclassed at least once on every NAW course.

NAW Masterclasses are also offered on NAW Days at events and festivals around the country. To demonstrate how the Masterclass works, we've posted up six mini Masterclass videos. The full texts were previously Masterclassed in London, Birmingham and Bristoi, and the accompanying texts are available as a download - those attending a Live Masterclass read the text in advance.
